Crespi 8, Chaminade 6

Crespi (6-1, 1-1) rallied for 3 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to overcome a 6-5 deficit and held on for the win in a Mission League game at Valley College. The win avenged a 4-3 loss on Tuesday to Chaminade and helped the Celts stay in the Mission League race.

Crespi struck first with 4 runs in the first inning off highly regarded Chaminade pitcher, Matt Troupe as Ryon Healy singled and stole second. After back-to-back walks to Kevin Williams and Mike Hubbard, Healy scored on an single from Jack Colick. Williams scored on Austin Walker's booted ground ball, before a single by Alex Gonzalez chased home Hubbard and Colick.

After the Eagles scored a run in the top of the second, Crespi extended the lead to 5-1 as Ryan Brockett reached first base on an error, stole second, and scored from second on a wild pitch. The Eagles roared back with a run in the third inning and 4 in the fifth to take a 6-5 lead. Crespi took the lead for good as Hubbard singled. He then stole second and scored on a single from Colick. Colick would later score on a single from Walker, who eventually scored on Brockett's sacrifice fly. John Kearns, in relief of Brockett, retired the last 7 hitters in order for the win.(Ryan Brockett pictured above and Alex Gonzalez pictured below.)
